The Source Filmmaker: A Preview
Yesterday, Valve introduced the Source Filmmaker, a tool for creating movies using the Source engine as the set and studio. The tool allows digital directors to animate characters, set up camera angles, and realistically recreate dialogue using the program. As they put it, you get all of the “lights, camera, and action” except you can do the whole process in reverse, which they believe is actually more effective.

The role of music videos seems to have changed over the past couple decades. Television stations such as MTV, VH1, and BET have slowly pushed away their music video slots and replaced them with game shows, reality TV, and other similar programs. Music videos themselves are still being released on a daily basis, but now it’s mostly through the web using sites like YouTube and Vimeo. So how exactly has this changed things?
