TUTORIAL TUESDAY: Move focus to and from a custom keyboard’s search field and the third party app’s text field – iOS SWIFT

search
Happy Tutorial Tuesday! Last week I had to create a keyboard extension for iOS that displays images and a search bar to be able to search for certain images. I looked up several tutorials, everything seemed straight forward… Until I started typing in the search and I couldn’t get the focus back on the the third party app (msg / or any other app). The nightmare began! Continue reading

LET’S ROGO!

Straight from the O+O Lab, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our app, ROGO!

Have you ever had a burning question, but lacked the right language to express it? Without getting too “meta” on you this Tuesday morning, how do you ask a person what something is, if you don’t know what the thing is?  These are the kinds of things that keep the O+O team up at night. And because we are all a part of this epic mission to make the world a better interactive and connected experience, we built a platform for users to express and resolve their curiosity. The more we can encourage curiosity and wonderment, the more we can exercise our imaginations. Trust us when we say, imagination is where it’s at.

ROGO! lets you snap a photo of anything you’re curious about, and upload it to a whole network of other users who can give you answers in real time. Ask and answer visual questions instantly, and earn rewards for it. So whether you’re dropping knowledge, saving the day, or just don’t know–ROGO! is your go-to app for all the answers you need when you’re at a loss for words. Download here!

[Adult Swim] Bump Building

Adult Swim Bump Builder
So you think you’re a wise guy, huh? Do you look like a clown to you? If so, you might want to try your hand at Adult Swim’s Bump Builder. Adult Swim has long been famous for its 15 second “bumps” which serve as self-advertisement for the channel’s brand. The writers over at Adult Swim have written everything from the inane to the absurd, and now they’ve opened up the flood gates to UGC on iOS and Android. No promises that your classically sardonic wit will get your 15-second Bump on the air, but you said to never tell you the odds anyway.

When you download the app, you can also sync it with Adult Swim to get extra content while you watch. Everybody loves extra content.

You can download the iOS app here.
You can download the Android app here.
And you can access the wildly colorful web version here.

You can also check out the ghosts of bumps past over at BumpWorthy if you’re looking for an example to live by.

ShareKit – iOS Sharing Made Easy

Here’s a cool tool for iOS development. Nate Weiner of Idea Shower created ShareKit to help developers add sharing capabilities to apps with just 3 lines of code. You can customize the code for your needs, but the best part about ShareKit is that its completely free to use in any app under the MIT Open Source License.

You can find ShareKit on GitHub or check it out on the ShareKit website.

You can also find Nate Weiner on Twitter or check out his site.

The game is available through the iTunes App Store for free. If you’re the first person to beat the game, the fine folks at Chin and Cheeks will send you a secret mystery gift. So get playing!
